Meet our girls...

 

All my girls started out as Miniature Australian Shepherds registered with NSDR and ASDR but now all my girls and boys are registered with AKC as Miniature American Shepherds. There is quite a bit of controversy over the name change but everyone needs to remember their origin in spite of the name change, they are still Miniature Aussies to me..

On the genetic testing, if it says “N” it means normal, if it says “M” it mean they are carrying one Mutant gene and can pass it on to their offspring.  In the case of MDR1 you can avoid problems by following the list that will be provided by the breeder and also showing it to your veterinarian so your puppy will not get the offending medication.  Otherwise MDR1 does not affect their health.

The CERF is done yearly and is to check their eyes for any abnormalities.

The OFA for hips cannot be done if the dog is under two years of age and cannot be done if the female is in heat or pregnant.

The dogs who’s birth dates are not listed is because I recently purchased them and haven’t gotten their papers yet.

The ones that say PENDING means I’m either waiting for results or have ordered the kits and are waiting to get them.

I try to keep the price of my puppies affordable and I want to produce puppies that are free of serious genetic defects.  The testing is costly and time consuming but be assured that for the price you pay you are getting some of the best puppies on the market today.  All this testing makes it easy for me to guarantee my puppies and leaves you with the peace of mind that you will not have a defective adult mini aussie down the road a few years.
